YouTube TV made an announcement that it will be increasing its monthly price to $64.99 from $50 a month as the service provider begins offering channels of ViacomCBS: CMT, BET, MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, TV Land, VH1 and Paramount Network.
The new subscription price is effective now for all new subscribers. Meanwhile, existing customers would see the price hike during their upcoming billing cycle.
The $15 rise in the subscription price is the most recent price increase for the YouTube TV customers. Originally when service was launched, the fee was $35. Later, the price was hiked to $40 a month in 2018 when it added new Turner networks. Next, the price was increased again last year to $50 a month when the company added Discovery’s networks. Now, with the inclusion of the above mentioned channels of ViacomCBS, YouTube TV is taking its largest price hike till date, with $64.99 a month.
Besides the ViacomCBS channels, YouTube TV will soon also introduce MTV2, BET Her, NickToons, Nick Jr., MTV Classic and TeenNick in the near future.
In a blog post, while announcing the all new channels and price, Christian Oestlien, Vice President, Product Management, YouTube sympathized that though the hiked cost isn’t easy for some members, it reflects the increasing content cost as well as the entire value of the company’s service.
