On Monday, the WHO mentioned that there might never be any magical cure to help deal with the COVID-19 pandemic even as drugmakers and scientists all around the globe work day & night to locate an effective and safe vaccine.
Scientists have surely made progress in the identification of treatments that help people suffering from severe variants of Coronavirus. Also, several vaccines are now in the last stage of trials, as stated by Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the WHO Director, in a press conference held at the Geneva headquarters of the agency.
However, he added that there isn’t any silver bullet that can deal with this pandemic & it might never be found as well. Tedros wasn’t enquired about the claims made by Russia, stating that it shall be ready for mass inoculations by October. As of now, the disease has infected 18 Million+ people all around the world, with a minimum of 689,625 killed by the same. However, an FDA-approved drug is nowhere in proximity.
In the month of May, the FDA also granted the use of Remdesivir, an antiviral drug that can be used in case of emergencies.
