Fox Broadcasting Company’s The Resident is a medical drama series created by Amy Holden Jones, Hayley Schore, and Roshan Sethi. The show had been running flawlessly for three whole seasons, until the season three aired its finale on April 7, 2020. However, much to the fans surprise, the makers announced a season four resurrection in May, the following month.
The Resident weaves the story of a class of doctors who work at Chastain Park Memorial Hospital and deals with the decisions and protocols made by the bureaucrats in the facility. After everything the doctors face daily, let’s see what we’re in for in the upcoming season.
When will The Resident season 4 release? Premiere Date
The third season’s shooting was halted midway due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Hence, the last three episodes weren’t recorded. On that account, the makers had to settle for an unplanned finale to the season.
Since COVID-19 hasn’t been completely wiped off of the world, the release date of the premiere is a little bouncy. Plus, the makers and creators haven’t commented on the same. Nevertheless, the restrictions around the globe are easing with the help of precautions so we might get to watch season 4 releasing in 2021, at the earliest.
Who is in The Resident season 4 cast?
The entire cast has been very consistent and promising in playing their respective roles. We expect the team to return to our screens whenever the time comes.
The Gilmore Girls actor, Matthew Charles Czuchry, plays Dr Conrad Hawkins, the senior Resident internist at the Chastain Park Memorial. Then we have, Emily VanCamp from Captain America who now plays Nic Nevin: a nurse practitioner. The Hundred-Foot Journey’s star, Manish Dayal, is a second-year Resident internist named Devon Pravesh.
Joining them is a great cast ensemble of Shaunette Renée Wilson as Mina Okafor, Bruce Greenwood as Randolph Bell, Moran Atias as Renata Morali, Merrin Dungey as Claire Thorpe, Melina Kanakaredes as Lane Hunter, Malcolm-Jamal Warner as AJ “The Raptor” Austin, Glenn Morshower as Marshall Winthrop, Jane Leeves as Kitt Voss, and Morris Chestnut as Barrett Cain.
Most probably, all of them will continue to play their role since there weren’t any deaths, nor anyone was reported to leave the show. (check: Hi Bye, Mama! Season 2.)
What will happen in The Resident season 4? Plot
The doctors at Chastain Park Memorial finds it challenging to cope when Red Rock Mountain Medical takes over the hospital. (check: Netflix’s Hache Season 2 Release Date, Cast, Plot, Trailer and Everything Else About Series.)
We see Conrad being terminated who eventually is reappointed while Cain is promoted as the Chief of Surgery. On the other hand, Bell launches his own supplement company. Now, season four will not only resume from where it left but also make some major changes and add to it.
Amy Holden Jones said, “Our premiere deals with the early days of the outbreak, focusing on the effect on our hero doctors and nurses as they risk their lives daily.” She then added, “Long-term, sadly, the after-effects of COVID-19 will go on, even after we have a vaccine, and we’ll be there to show that as well.
The Resident didn’t need to bring in outside consultants to learn about the pandemic, as we have a doctor and nurse on our writing staff who have lived it first-hand.” So, we know that whatever the show portrays, it will be legitimate.
The Resident Season 4 Trailer
The trailer is only supposed to come out once the shoot has been completed. In this case, the production hasn’t even begun yet. Hopefully, the production will begin soon.
