The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance landed on Netflix on August 31, 2019, and achieved significant critical acclaim. The series turned out to be a prequel of 1982 film, ‘The Dark Crystal’ by Jim Henson, which was applauded for every aspect, from the narrative to the animation.
Coming to Age of Resistance, a second season was manifested after the success of the first one, and therefore, the audience anticipates every little detail about it. We will include the release date, cast, plot, and other information, ready to read along.
‘The Dark Crystal’ revolves around a Gelfling named Jen, who begins a quest to restore the balance of his home planet, Thra, and defeat the ruling lords Skeksis by restoring a powerful but broken crystal.
Whereas, the Age of Resistance is where Rian, Deet, and Brea- three Gelflings take a journey together to unify the other Gelfling clans to stand against Skeksis and save their planet (Thra) from Darkening- a harmful blight.
When will The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance come to life? The Premiere.
Season 1 took two years to come to our screens, it was announced in May 2017 but made its debut in April 2019. Season two won’t occupy that amount of time since the characters are already built.
Therefore, we think that the installment will return in 2021 in either autumn or winter. This is just an estimate, but it all depends on the production because there are still some characters and storylines to be made. Whatever happens, our fingers are crossed.
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Season 2 Plot. What will happen now?
Season one showed that Rian, Deet, and Brea took off in search of other Gelfling clans to unite to save Thra from the evil Skeksis after knowing their powers and strength. The Darkening has been spreading a life-threatening disease among the population of Thra and needs to be saved, that is when the three Gelflings decide to intervene and stop the destruction.
What do we expect now? Last we saw that the Gelflings had won the battle; however, they need to heal the planet and recover the people. Oh yes! Winning the fight was a completely new victory but also sacrifice at the same time. Deet takes the Darkening to win the battle, but its function does not stop there- the Darkening is inside her and in the ecosystem. So, that’s more dangerous.
They might also expand the planet for which their journey has to continue. So, Rian, Deet, and Brea will be seen exploring adventures further.
FYI- There are young adult book series of The Dark Crystal, you could read in the meantime. They revolve around similar topics, and you could connect them at some point. Shadows of the Dark Crystal refers a little with the first season; however, it isn’t an adaptation.
