Sadak 2 Trailer Becomes 2nd Most Disliked Indian Video on YouTube: Boycotting Alia and Mahesh Bhatt’s film

Entertainment Movie

The trailer of Sadak 2 has become the second most disliked Indian video on YouTube. As of writing this, Mr Faisu’s video leads the table with over 3.5 million dislikes. Sadak 2’s trailer was released on August 11, 2020, and within 24 hours over 2.6 million (26 lakhs) people have hit the dislike button.

More often, the videos create a buzz with the number of views and likes they receive, but the upcoming Bollywood film of Alia is making rounds with the number of dislikes. It’s a big Hindi movie which stars Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Alia, Makarand Despande, Sunil Grover, and other notable names in the industry.

Generally, the trailer of a big film with marquee names gets many more likes than dislikes. But, the cycle has been reversed for Sadak 2. At the time of writing this, it has got only 161k (1 lakh 61 thousand) likes only and has been watched over 5.8 million times. It seems that people are clearly indicating their intention of boycotting Sadak 2.

Why is Sadak 2 trailer getting dislikes? Are People Boycotting The Film?

The trailer getting disliked by people shows a clear indication that movie-goers would boycott the film. The reason behind it started when 34-year-old actor Sushant Singh Rajput died on June 14, 2020, allegedly by suicide. The Chhichhore star was found dead at home in Mumbai.

It is speculated that he was pushed to the brink by the alleged mistreatment from Bollywood insiders. As a result, the fans of the late celeb and others have been outpouring anger online against certain celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar, Mahesh Bhatt, etc.

On one particular episode of Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan talk show, Alia had acted as if she didn’t know Sushant even existed in the Bollywood industry. She is supposed to have close relations with filmmaker Karan. Other producers had allegedly shut Sushant out of films. Thus, it triggered a backlash against them. Also, the criticism of nepotism and favoritism in the film industry got renewed.

It was not a surprise that Alia Bhatt trended for the most part of the day. Once again, the recent incident proved that a grudge could be held forever. Another reason that contributed to the surge of dislikes and social media hate is Mahesh Bhatt, the director of Sadak 2.

It is known publicly that Mahesh Bhatt has been very close to actress Rhea Chakraborty, the alleged ex-girlfriend of Sushant. Rhea is being treated as a prime suspect, and thus being questioned in the investigation of Sushant’s death. The family of Sushant has accused Rhea of transferring Rs 15 crore from the actor’s account which was a huge blow to him.

Dil Bechara, the last of Sushant Singh Rajput, released in July 2020. Its trailer got a whopping 10 million likes on YouTube only. Other recent trailers like Gulabo Sitabo, Shakuntala Devi, etc. Social media has named Janhvi Kapoor on the list of ‘star kids,’ and seemed adamant to boycott her upcoming film – Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl.
