Riverdale has managed to gain massive following since it was debuted way back in 2017. Despite this, the fourth instalment was ended forcefully due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which disappointed fans a lot. It ended with the 19th episode with a cliffhanger leaving series of questions.
Now, the fans are eager to watch Riverdale season 5, which is already renewed in January 2020. And the showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has shared a first-look image, which he confirms will be the first episode.
He shared a photo saying, “Couldn’t resist a sneak peek at Prom Night (our first episode back) with these two beautiful ladies! Rest assured, ALL the queens will reigning SUPREMELY next season!”

Riverdale Season 5
When the fifth outing was renewed, the creators had scheduled the release date to fall in October 2020, but the pandemic made them halt the production for a few months. Roberto has confirmed that the pre-production has been resumed in August 2020, and the filming is soon going to kick-off.
Lili Reinhart, who plays the role of Betty Cooper, has revealed that the upcoming instalment will show a seven-year jump. This means that all of the teenage characters will be seen in adulthood. She confirmed this in Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show.
Reinhart was also seen at the airport of Vancouver, Canada, on August 23, wearing a white tee with the word “Inclushion” and a black face mask. She signed some autographs for the fans and left for the filming. She opened up about returning to the set of Riverdale, saying, “We are heading back, and the gang will be together in a couple of short weeks after we quarantine.”
“Basically, we have to quarantine once we’re in Canada and make sure we’re all COVID free before we can get back on set. So very soon we’ll be reunited…I think we’re very excited to, um, I haven’t seen everyone all together in five months, so it’ll be really nice,” she added.
Lili Reinhart also said she is “excited” about starting the work and maintaining a normal life just like old times. However, she admitted that she is somewhat nervous about the new guidelines to follow because of the coronavirus as the filming experience with safety measures is going to be different. “I have no idea what to expect in this COVID world when it comes to shooting,” she said. “I hope it doesn’t take the fun away from a day on set.”
If you follow Lili for a long time on social media, you must have known that her co-star Cole Sprouse who plays the role of Jughead Jones in Riverdale, is her ex-boyfriend. In March, they split up, which is confirmed with Sprouse’s Instagram post.
