The NBA star LeBron James got emotional while delivering a farewell speech on the sets of Space Jam. It was his last day at the shot when he shared his feeling with the cast and crew of the movie.
The LA Lakers player was wearing his #6 ‘Toon Squad’ uniform. We have retrieved the audio clip. The said incident took place in Summer 2019 before the COVID pandemic took place. In the speech, James has explained why did he take the role in the first place.
“I’m gonna be honest completely with you guys — when I found out about the project, I was like it’s ‘Space Jam’! It’s a movie that I grew up watching. People in the movie that I idolize. I was like absolutely, I gotta do it. There’s no way I can turn down ‘Space Jam’!”
Jokingly, Bron said that he was struck with second thoughts after realizing that the production schedule was demanding, but at last decided to go for it as it happens to be an opportunity of a lifetime.
“I’m just a small kid from Akron, Ohio — a very small town outside of Cleveland. From a single-parent household, I’m the only child, my mother had absolutely nothing. She was walking around high school when she was 16 years old and she was pregnant with me as a high school sophomore. So I’m really not supposed to be here.”
“Growing up in the inner city, as an African-American kid, there’s no way you’re supposed to f*cking make it out. And, the fact that I’m who I am as an African-American adult now with 3 kids of my own, and I made it out of the situations that I was in. This sh*t is like extra credit for me man.”
Then, the basketball star thanked everyone involved in the making of the movie. He said, “Ya’ll say you appreciate me, but I’m sh*t without ya’ll.” LeBron James also clicked picture with the film’s writer/producer Ryan Coogler and director Malcolm D Lee.
Upon looking carefully at LeBron’s official jersey and shorts, you will notice that it features an orange spiral surrounded by blue color with ‘Tune Squad’ logo on it. He used to wear #6 with the Miami Heat. Now, with the Lakers, he wear #23.

Yeah, we know the uniforms Michael Jordan’s OG ‘Space Jam’ kit and Bron’s are strikingly different. Michael had a simple red, white and blue uniform. It is already known that James had invited some of his fellow players – Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson, and Anthony Davis – to participate in the movie.
Don Cheadle is also a part of the movie. You can see his photo on set too. The film Space Jam 2 will release in Summer 2021.
